The eccentric star is the second block in the EQ7 sewalong. I feel so much more confident now in using my EQ7. Once again it isn’t a difficult block, but the focus this time was on importing fabrics into EQ7 so that you can make your quilt designs look exactly as they might when you make them. I’ll have to check whether they include Fabric Freedom fabrics in their library. I’ve made this block as a 9″ square..
3.1/2″ squares: one blue
3.7/8″ squares: two each in red and blue, two each in yellow and blue
Making the block
Make half square triangles with the 3.7/8″ squares and then lay the pieces out in three rows of three. Sew the squares together across each row and then sew the rows to each other.
I know the colours look different in each photo, but it was a really dull day when I made this and I always find that greeny/blue colours are quite difficult to photograph with true colours.
But I’ve got the most amazing quilt to show you that I’ve designed very quickly using EQ7. It really did only take minutes to design – and no, there is absolutely no chance of a tutorial! That of course is the trouble – my quilts have always been designed with half an eye on the simplicity of the tutorial and I can see it being very easy to get carried away with computer designs which couldn’t possibly be classified as suitable for beginner quilters.
Still, it’s a lovely quilt to look at …
Thanks for visiting my blog.
I hope to see you again soon.
