This is quite a striking quilt block, using just the two colours with a very big contrast. It comes from the Ladies Art Company and is classified as a four patch block. I have made it here as a 12″ finished size block.
Cutting requirements for the Ladies wreath quilt block
3.1/2″ squares: four white
3.7/8″ squares: six each in red and in white
Making the ladies wreath quilt block
Make half square triangle units with the 3.7/8″ squares. Place a red and a white square with right sides together and mark a line along the diagonal. Sew a seam 1/4″ either side of the marked line and cut along the line to produce two half square triangle units. Press the seam allowances towards the red and trim the corners of the squares where the triangle tips stick out. These are now 3.1/2″ squares.
Lay out the squares for the ladies wreath quilt block in four rows of four. There is one white square in each row and the rest are half square triangles, but you will have to look at the photo to see which way to place the triangles. The top right and bottom left corners both have a butterfly like layout. All four triangles in the top left corner grouping are all facing in the same direction. The four triangles in the bottom right corner grouping are also all facing in the same direction, different from those in the top left.
Sew the squares together across each row and then sew the rows to each other to complete the ladies wreath quilt block.

I hope to see you again soon.
